Abstract
The aim of this study was to confirm the presence and reproduction of the grey wolf (Canis lupus) in the Kozienice Forest (pl. Puszcza Kozienicka) during 2019–2020. Field tracking with scent detection dogs and camera trapping were used to collect data. A total of 21 wolf scats, three track sequences, and 43 video recordings were obtained. Up to four adult wolves were recorded, and footage from May 20, 2020, documented a female carrying five pups –the first confirmed evidence of wolf reproduction in the Kozienice Forest. The results indicate a stable wolf settlement in this region, reflecting a broader trend of wolf recolonisation across lowland areas of central Poland. Continued monitoring is recommended, particularly considering increasing human pressures on the landscape.
